ABOUT RESOURCE FOR AREA TEACHING (RAFT)
RAFT’s mission is to help educators transform a child’s learning experience, through hands-on
education, to one that inspires the joy and discovery of learning. RAFT is doing this today in the Bay Area
with some 8,000 educators, who teach both inside and outside the classroom. RAFT’s products (activity
kits and idea sheets), services (professional development and mentoring), and low-cost teaching supplies
enrich and improve the education of over 600,000 young people each year.
RAFT is celebrating twenty-five years, which is largely attributed to the meaningful partnerships fostered
with Bay Area’s educators, non-profits, and high-profile organizations who understand the impact of
hands on learning. In addition to serving the needs of educators and students, a key tenant of RAFT’s
values is to be stewards of the environment. RAFT provides members with an abundance of affordable
materials and supplies while diverting roughly 400 cubic feet of materials from landfills donated from
corporate partners each and every day!
