RAFT Outreach Workshops


RAFT offers outreach science and math workshops for groups of teachers both at RAFT and at school sites.

  • Power of Hands-on Teaching at RAFT (PHOT)

    This informative one-hour workshop makes it easy for all educators to use hands-on teaching tools, including RAFT Idea Sheets, Activity Kits, and materials. Includes sample RAFT materials.

    Fee: Thanks to corporate support, the fee is only $25 total for a group of up to 25 participants. (Add $5 for each participant above 25 to cover additional materials).

    Location: This workshop can be held at either the RAFT-San Jose or RAFT-Redwood City facility. A free tour of RAFT can be scheduled before or after the session.

  • Science Night Activity Project (SNAP)

    Make your next Science Night an event to remember by featuring crowd-pleasing activities from RAFT. Our friendly science staff will train your event hosts and provide pre-packaged activities suitable for all ages.

    Fee: $375 includes:

    • Training for up to 20 teachers and/or adult volunteers
    • Enough materials for 100 event participants to each do up to 8 different activities

    Materials for the same activities, for an additional 100 participants can be added for $150.

    Location: This training session can be held at your location. Reasonable travel costs will be added for locations more than 25 miles from San Jose or Redwood City. If the workshop is held at RAFT location, you save $25, and a tour of RAFT can be included at no cost.

  • RAFT Customized Science and Math Workshops (CSMW)

    We offer science and math workshops on a variety of topics using RAFT Idea Sheets, Activity Kits, and materials. Let our experts know which science and/or math topics you need to teach and the grade levels of your students. We will choose an appropriate workshop and customize it to your needs.

    Basic CSMW Workshop

    Fee: $200 includes:

    • 1 hour training in 4 activities for up to 20 educators
    • Enough materials for each instructor to do 1 of the activities back in class – either as a station or with students working individually or in groups.

    Extended CSMW Workshop

    Fee: $275 includes:

    • 90 minute training in 6 activities for up to 20 educators
    • Enough materials for each instructor to do 2 of the activities back in class – either as a station or with students working individually or in groups.

    Location: These training sessions can be held at your location. Reasonable travel costs will be added for locations more than 25 miles from San Jose or Redwood City. If the workshop is held at RAFT location, you will save $25, and a tour of RAFT can be included at no cost.
