Summary of Position

As a leader in the area of hands-on education, Resource Area for Teaching (RAFT) promotes excellence in K-12 education by providing hands-on teaching materials and professional development to several thousand teachers and non-profit organizations in the Santa Clara Valley. Through hands-on teaching in the curriculum areas of science, math, technology and art, RAFT transforms the classroom experience and gives students an interactive, exciting and memorable learning experience.

Basic Function:

The Driver will safely and efficiently operate a bobtail truck and perform pickups and deliveries throughout the Bay Area. As a representative of RAFT, the position requires a professional and courteous demeanor with donors at all times. The driver is responsible for communicating with donors regarding the types of donations RAFT will accept, and provides general warehouse work as needed. This position reports to the Warehouse Manager and interacts with RAFT staff.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

Education:
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.

Experience:
-Ability to drive a bobtail truck with lift gate
-Previous experience in a warehouse environment (stoop, bend, and lift appropriately)
-Requirements: A clear DMV record for insurance requirements

Skills:
-Communication — Write and speak English clearly and concisely.
-Customer Service — Interact well with people of all cultures and backgrounds.
-Time Management — Manage your time efficiently
-Ability to lift at least 50lbs
-Knowledge — General knowledge of the Bay Area locations
-Maintain accurate records
-Work under limited supervision
-Ability to problem-solve.

Work Schedule

Work Year: Full time, Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Some Saturdays required.
